There was an old college football game that each player picked a offense and defense card and you put the two cards in a slot on the game board and pulled back a spring loaded ball and see where it landed to determine outcome of the play. I can’t remember what the game was called, I think it came out in the 70’s to mid 70’s. - Mark
I was hoping you could help me identify an old football board game. My dad used to play it when he was young, so it probably dates back to the 1950's, or early 1960's.
He described it this way:
"Our game had round 1/2 " pieces that were red or blue and allowed you to place the piece on an opponent for a block or tackle.
The field was a checkerboard grid, and the football was brown and sliced in half so you could place it on the QB, RB or receiver.
You rolled dice to determine how far a pass, run or kick went or if the kick was good.
It was like combining checkers and chess."
Does this sound familiar at all? - Tom
I'm going to test your memory on a football game that was on the market in the late 50's to early 60's. I have no idea on the manufacturer It was made in the form of a box approx 14"x12" it had a light bulb inside. One opponent would place a offensive card down and the other opponent would place the defensive card on top. Then there would be a cardboard slide you would pull out and it would reveal the the offensive strategy and then the defensive strategy and that would determine the yardage, pass, TD etc - Vito
